We offer a range of programs designed to meet the developmental needs of children from infancy to pre-K. Our trained and caring staff focus on creating a supportive, play-based learning experience that encourages each child’s growth—emotionally, socially, and academically.

We care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old, with every classroom securely monitored by cameras that parents can access for peace of mind.

We’ve partnered with SC First Steps to offer the 3k Program, making high-quality childcare and learning more affordable for our families.

Classroom Camera & Parent Access Policy

For the safety and peace of mind of our families, all classrooms are equipped with security cameras.
Parents and guardians are provided access to view their child’s classroom through our secure system.

Erica S. Smith, Founder

Hello! My name is Erica S. Smith, and I am the Founder of Carolina Children’s Discovery Center, LLC. My career in education began with Sunshine House in 2005 as an instructor; I received a promotion as center director based on my enthusiasm and passion for early childhood education, having previously served as a director for ten years before establishing my family childcare program.

Having that childhood passion of being a teacher along with an entrepreneurial goal, I opened my own family daycare in 2021. My ambition for CCDC is to serve families in the community, something that I hold very close to my heart. My mission is to establish a protected, supportive environment where children can thrive and develop.

As a devoted member of my community, I served as constituent board member with Charleston County School District from 2018-2020. I am also a notary public for the state of South Carolina.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, attending church, cooking, socializing/networking, and I also love watching the Carolina Panthers play. Go Panthers!
